Olimpio

Pico Island, named after its imposing mountain, is one of the most beautiful and underrated island of the Azores.

Only second to S. Miguel in size the ‘Mountain Island’ stands majestically in the middle of the Azorean central group, at about 4.5 nautical miles from Faial Island and 11 miles from S. Jorge Island.

It is approximately 167 square miles (433 km2).

The Landscape of the Pico Island Vineyard Culture is a Unesco World Heritage Site on Pico Island.

The vineyard is divided into plots protected by walls.

The walls are built with basalt blocks that have been weathered and broken up and stacked without mortar.

Olimpio will be active from time to time.

His working conditions consist of  a Kenwood 8700  transceiver and a 6 element Yagi antenna
